This painting on wood features a woman sitting at a table while she is thinking. She seems to be part of a frozen and suspended atmosphere which recalls the immobile and distant achievements of ‘magic realism’ but also German ‘new objectivity realism’. The originality of the artist from Palermo, who was part of the ‘Gruppo dei quattro’, is however evident through the execution of the neat contours, the prevailing tones of grey and the composition originating from the architectural combination of its elements.
