Joaquim Vitorino Ribeiro was born in Porto, Portugal in 1849 and died in 1928. He was a Portuguese painter, conservator of art, professor, and collector. He attended the Academia Portuense de Belas-Artes and later went to Paris to complete his artistic education. He is known for his painting 'The Christian Martyr'.
