Questo ritratto apparteneva in precedenza alla Collezione Avogadro di Brescia e probabilmente rappresenta Gerolamo Avogadro (m. 1534). Datato sul gradino (a destra inferiore), è il primo ritratto indipendente a grandezza naturale prodotto in Italia. Lo sguardo lontano della sitter e l'ampiezza del costume richiamano la tradizione della ritrattistica veneta sviluppata da Giorgione e dal giovane Tiziano nei primi anni del XVI secolo. Un distintivo di San Cristoforo è ben visibile sul signore
