George Lambert (1873-1930), artiste, passa quelques années de sa jeunesse sur la terre, mêlant, tondant et appréciant la compagnie de personnages de brousse. Un talent de dessin le conduisit à l'école d'art de Sydney, qu'il quitta en1900. Après deux ans à Paris, où il s'entraîne à l'Académie Colarossi, il retourne à Londres, où il est basé jusqu'à la fin de 1920. Dashing et vigoureux, il était un membre populaire d'un cercle d'artistes, dont beaucoup d'Australiens, qui fréquentaient le Chelsea Arts Club. Alf Vincent, caricaturiste de Melbourne, a visité l'Angleterre en 1912. Trois ans plus tard, à Sydney, il s'est coupé la gorge.
