Als Arbeitszeichnung zeigt dieses Design nicht ein fertiges Stück, sondern einen Anfangsplan für den oberen Teil eines Möbels, möglicherweise einen Sockeltisch oder einen Schreibtisch. Die Säule ist in zweierlei Hinsicht, geradlinig und glühend dargestellt, zeigt Mackmurdos Gedankenprozess, wie er sich vorstellt, wie das letzte Stück aussehen wird. Die Zeichnung ist ähnlich in der Idee einer Reihe von Möbeln entworfen von Mackmurdo in den 1880er Jahren.
