El Misal Nakkai fue fundado por Hira Singh (b. 1706). He was initiated into the Khalsa in 1731, and joined the Sikh movement in the Punjab in 1748. Tomó posesión del territorio de Nakka entre Lahore y Gogaira y entre los ríos, Satluj y Ravi. Con el matrimonio de Ranjit Singh con Raj Kaur en 1789, la relación entre las dos faltas se fortaleció mucho. En 1802 dio a luz a Kharak Singh, el heredero del imperio Sikh.
