L'Ictíneo I fu il primo sottomarino conosciuto costruito da Narciso Monturiol, nativo di Barcellona, tra il 1858 e il 1859. Era lungo 7 m, largo 2,5 m e profondo 3,5 m. Il suo scopo iniziale era quello di facilitare la pesca dei coralli. Il nome Ictíneo fu il risultato di unire le antiche parole greche ichtus (pesce) e naus (nave). Una replica può essere visitata al Museo Marittimo di Barcellona.
