Shahida Ahmed is a UK based contemporary artist specialising in ceramics that are often adorned with Islamic calligraphy. Shahida’s work crosses over mediums which also include large scale installations. Her work is notably held in the Downing Street collection as well as with HRH Prince Charles. Ayatul Kursi uses a mixture of clay from both the UK and Morocco to create an invisible connection between two distant places; ‘crossing over the boundaries of waking consciousness into the spiritual plane to tentatively reach the viewer through the Quranic verse that is present on the vessel’.
