Ces deux vers régulés à sept caractères ont été produits dans un échange de poésie-chanteur prolongé entre 1939 et 1940. Au moins vingt-quatre hommes de lettres, dont M. Li King-hong comme poète principal, ont apporté leur contribution à plus d'une centaine de poèmes associés à l'azalée. Bien qu'il ne reste que soixante-seize livres, il s'agit probablement du plus grand travail de poésie collective centré sur un seul thème enregistré sur papier à Hong Kong.
