Questo sontuoso dipinto evoca un rebus, o multipart visual pun, che lo trasforma da un'immagine decorativa in un laden con significato. I due uccelli di coda lunga (shoudai niao 綬帶口) simboleggiano la “doppia longevità” (shuangshou 雙壽), mentre la rosa (yueji uguole) e crabapple (haitang brook海) stanno per “alta sala” (gaotang Iglesias), un termine rispettoso per i propri genitori. Preso insieme, le immagini codificano un desiderio di “vita lunga per i tuoi genitori. ”
