Dans ce dessin du Dr Hermann Adler, le rabbin en chef de Grande-Bretagne, dans sa soukkah, l'artiste a représenté l'adaptation de la coutume anglaise à la fête juive de Sukkot. Cette fête de la moisson marque le temps où les enfants d'Israël ont reçu l'ordre de vivre dans un soukkah (booth) pendant sept jours en souvenir de leur libération d'Égypte. La fête a été revitalisée en Angleterre avec la grande immigration des juifs européens de Pâques à la fin du XIXe siècle. Tradition et acculturation coexistent dans Salomon J. Solomon
