Francesco Verla was an Italian painter of the Renaissance period, born in Villaverla, Italy in 1470 and died in Rovereto, Italy in 1521. He was a follower of Bartolomeo Montagna and was influenced by Mantegna and Perugino. He is described by some as emerging from the School of Vicenza. His notable works include 'An Enthroned Madonna and Child with Saints Joseph and Francis' (1520) at the Pinacoteca di Brera in Milan and a drawing depicting the 'Baptism of Christ' at the Morgan Library and Museum in New York. He is known for his use of classical and Renaissance elements in his paintings.
