John Popovich (Ioan Popovici) was a renowned iconographer from Elena, Bulgaria. He left an enormous artistic heritage that encompassed territories far beyond his birthplace. His works were highly regarded and sought after by many in the region. John Popovich's most famous work is the 'Dormition of Virgin Mary', which was completed in 1842 using tempera as a medium.
