Biography:

Ahmad Angawi is a Saudi Arabian multidisciplinary artist, educator, and founder of Zawiya 97. He was born in 1981 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Angawi studied Industrial Design at the Pratt Institute in New York and completed a master's degree in Traditional Arts at The Prince's School of Traditional Arts in London. His work revolves around the human condition, cultural heritage, and environment, often inspired by the rich culture of Hejaz in western Saudi Arabia. Angawi has exhibited his work in museums and galleries worldwide, including the British Museum, where he created a traditional mangour window screen as a permanent structure for The Albukhary Foundation Gallery of the Islamic world. He is also the associate director of Al Makmad Foundation and believes in the concept of living tradition, creating innovative objects through his design studio Shai.
