Biografia:
Andrey Nikolov was a notable Bulgarian sculptor. He is the major representative of neoclassical and symbolist European influence on Bulgarian art. Born in Vratsa, he joined the School of Painting in Sofia and later became a lecturer at what is now the National Art Academy in Sofia. In 1914, Nikolov was sent to Rome to oversee the preparation of plates used for making stamps for the Bulgarian state. He worked there until 1927. Some of his most remarkable works were created during this time. Soft and poetic, plunged in the white glow of marble, they showcase Nikolov's unique style and talent. After returning to Bulgaria, he arranged his first solo exhibition in 1922. His house at 15, Lyuben Karavelov St., in Sofia is now a museum dedicated to his life and work.
