Cornelis Jonson van Ceulen the Elder (1593–1661) was a Dutch portrait painter. He was born in Germany and trained in Haarlem. He moved to London in 1618, where he became a leading portrait painter. He was known for his detailed and realistic portraits, which often featured a three-quarter view and a plain background. He was a member of the Painter-Stainers' Company and was knighted by Charles I in 1639. He returned to Haarlem in 1643, where he continued to paint portraits until his death in 1661.
