Edwin Gilbert Izod was a British corset manufacturer born in Portsmouth, England in 1826. He was married twice, first in 1858 and then in 1861 to Susan Gray. Izod established his corset-making company in the mid-19th century, which became well-known for its anchor trademark. In 1868, he developed a steam-molding process that revolutionized corset production. Izod died in 1887 in Southampton, England.
