Biography:

Han Ho was a calligrapher from South Korea, born in Kaesŏng in 1543 and died in 1605. He was also known under the name of Han Seok-bong. He was a calligrapher of the dynasty of Joseon. He wrote the letters of the Classique des Mille Caractères which served to the teaching of Chinese characters in Korea from 1601. He learned to read and write with his grandfather and then with the calligrapher Shin hee-nam. He passed the state exam at 24 years old and became a royal scribe. He stayed five times in China between 1572 and 1601. His style of calligraphy first took that of Zhao Mengfu and then of Wang Xizhi before becoming his own with powerful traits.
