Jae-Eun Choi is a South Korean artist known for her intense visual imagery and meticulous aesthetic sensibility. Born in Seoul, Korea in 1953, she currently lives and works in Tokyo, Japan and Berlin, Germany. She has been active since the 1980s, focusing on themes of life and time. Her notable projects include 'World Underground Project,' which began in 1986 and involves burying paper in seven countries around the world to be unearthed later, symbolizing time. Another ongoing project is 'Dreaming of Earth Project,' initiated in 2014, where she aims to restore a destroyed forest near the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) in Korea.
