Jakugon was a Japanese poet and Buddhist monk who lived during the Nara period. He was born in Okayama, Japan in 660 and died in 735. Jakugon is known for his poem 'Chinese Poem Extolling a Reclusive Lifestyle' which was written in 701 on paper. He is considered to be one of the most important poets of the Nara period and his work has had a significant impact on Japanese poetry.
