José Soto is a Peruvian former footballer and current coach. He played as a defender for several clubs, including Deportivo Municipal, Alianza Lima, and Puebla FC. Soto also represented the Peru national team from 1992 to 2003, earning 75 caps and scoring three goals. After retiring as a player, he began his coaching career, working with various teams in Peru, including Alianza Lima and Juan Aurich. José Soto is also a musician and composer, known for his work in the genres of free improvisation, jazz, classical music, and Latin American rhythms. He has released several albums, including 'The Ancestral Call', which won the Gold Medal at the Global Music Awards and was featured on NPR's list of Best Alternative Latin Music in 2023.
