Biography:

Josep Abril i Virgili was a self-taught Catalan poet and playwright born in Barcelona, Spain in 1869. He specialized in the production of works with easily understood and popular moral lessons, which were publicised through Roman Catholic organizations. Abril i Virgili collaborated in the production of several publications such as La Barretina, La Creu de Montseny, Lo Pensament Català, Cu-Cut! and Bon Seny, among others. He is the author of several morality plays that were performed mainly in Catholic associations. Abril i Virgili died in 1918.
