Pierre Hardy is a French fashion designer born in Paris in 1956. He is known for his luxury footwear designs, particularly high-end women's shoes and men's sneakers. Hardy's interest in design began at an early age, and he pursued a teaching degree in plastic arts before joining a modern dance troupe and working as an illustrator for European fashion magazines. In 1987, he began styling shoes at Christian Dior, and in 1990 he joined Hermès, where he was responsible for men's and women's shoes until 2001. During his time at Hermès, Hardy created classics such as the Oran sandal and the Quick trainer. In 1999, he launched his eponymous brand, Pierre Hardy, which sells luxury shoe and fashion accessories for men and women. Hardy has also worked with Balenciaga, the Gap Inc., and NARS Cosmetics. He has received numerous awards for his work, including the Chevalier of the Legion of Honour in 2016. Hardy is married to Christopher Turnier.
