Biography:

Walid Raad (Ra'ad) is a contemporary media artist born in 1967 in Chbanieh, Lebanon. He is known for his work with The Atlas Group, a fictional collective whose work is produced by Raad. He currently lives and works in New York, where he is a distinguished visiting professor of photography at Bard College and a professor of photography at the Cooper Union School of Art. His works include film, photography, multimedia installations, and accompanying public performances, often dealing with the contemporary history of Lebanon and the Lebanese Civil War of 1975-90. He is represented by Sfeir-Semler Gallery Beirut/Hamburg and is also a member of the Arab Image Foundation.
