Geoffrey Beene was an American fashion designer, born in Haynesville, Louisiana in 1927. He was a premed student at Tulane University when he found himself interested in fashion. Beene was known for his innovative and original designs, and was described as cerebral, modernist, and the 'architect of American clothing'. He made an indelible mark on fashion in the 20th century, and died in 2004.
