David Seven Deers is a Canadian-Indian artist, sculptor, and writer. He was born in 1957 in Vancouver, Canada. Deers belongs to the Coast Salish Skwah Stó:lō Halkomelem tribe of British Columbia. He studied at the Vancouver School of Art from 1974. In 1978, he traveled to Europe for the first time. Deers is known internationally for his fine art and indigenous sculptural works. His pieces are featured in various museums and exhibitions. He has also worked as a co-curator for an exhibition on Native American cultures at the Museum für Völkerkunde Hamburg. Deers has written several books, including 'Travelling Mother' and 'Heelahs Traum'. He lives with his wife, Sanna Seven Deers, in Greenwood, British Columbia.
