Ewerdt Hilgemann is a German artist, born in Witten on February 21, 1938. He currently lives and works in the Netherlands. Hilgemann is known for his minimalist and conceptual sculptures, often made of steel or resin. His work is characterized by its geometric shapes and serial repetition. Hilgemann's sculptures are often site-specific and are installed in public spaces around the world. He has exhibited his work in galleries and museums across Europe and the United States. In addition to his sculptural practice, Hilgemann has also worked as an educator, teaching at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam from 1977 to 1998. He currently lives and works in Amsterdam.
