Guido Viaro was an Italian-Brazilian painter and engraver born in Curitiba, Brazil in 1897. He was one of the most important artists of the Paraná region and a leading figure in the modernist movement in Brazil. Viaro studied art in Italy and returned to Brazil in 1922, where he became a prominent member of the Grupo dos Cinco (Group of Five) and helped to establish the modernist movement in the country. He was a prolific artist, working in a variety of media including oil, watercolor, and printmaking. Viaro's work is characterized by its vibrant colors, dynamic compositions, and expressive brushwork. He was a master of the etching technique and his prints are highly prized for their technical skill and artistic vision. Viaro died in Curitiba in 1964.
