Hellen van Meene is a Dutch photographer born in Alkmaar in 1972. She is known for her portraits of teenage girls, which she finds on the street and pre-visualizes, but is open to improvisation. She chooses girls with 'imperfect' faces and 'flawed' bodies, aiming to bring out their inherent grace. Over the years, she has also turned to still lives, portraits of animals, and fashion photography. She has been featured on CNN, TIME, and more, and has been commissioned by the Pump House and the New York Times. She is also a sought-after workshop leader.
