Louis-Joseph Le Lorrain was a French painter and engraver born in Paris in 1715. He studied design and engraving with Jacques Dumont before moving to Rome, where he became known in artistic circles. He then returned to Paris and joined the Academy. Le Lorrain spent some years in St Petersburg, Russia, where he died in 1759. He was known for combining several talents that made him recommendable, including painting, printmaking, drafting, illustrating, and painting on furniture.
