Mika Rottenberg is a contemporary Argentine-born US-based video artist who lives and works in New York. She was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1976. Her work combines film, architectural installation, and sculpture to explore ideas of labor and the production of value in our society. Rottenberg's video installations are full of movement, whether of human bodies, mysterious mixtures, machines, colors, or objects. Using absurdist narrative, she creates surrealistic art that blurs the borders between fiction and reality. She is known for her rigorous practice and has been recognized with several awards, including the James Dicke Contemporary Artist Prize in 2018.
