Životopis:
The Northern Song Dynasty was a Chinese dynasty that ruled from 960 to 1127. It was founded by Emperor Taizu of Song, who usurped the throne of the Later Zhou dynasty and went on to conquer the rest of the Ten Kingdoms, ending the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period. The Northern Song period is considered one of the most brilliant cultural epochs in Chinese history, with advancements in technology, science, philosophy, mathematics, and engineering. The Northern Song is divided into two periods: the Northern Song (960-1127), when the capital was in the northern city of Bianjing (now Kaifeng) and the dynasty controlled most of what is now Eastern China, and the Southern Song (1127-1279), when the Song lost control of its northern half to the Jurchen-led Jin dynasty and the court retreated south of the Yangtze and established its capital at Lin'an (now Hangzhou). The Northern Song is known for its porcelain, bronze, and jade artifacts, as well as its paintings and calligraphy. The most famous artist of the Northern Song period is Guo Xi, a landscape painter from Henan Province who lived during the Northern Song dynasty. He is best known for his work 'The Lofty Message of Forest and Streams'.
