Pablo Serrano Aguilar was a Spanish abstract sculptor born on March 8, 1908, in Crivillén, Spain, and died on November 26, 1985, in Madrid, Spain. He studied sculpture in Saragosse and Barcelona before moving to Argentina and Uruguay in 1929. In 1955, he returned to Spain and co-founded the El Paso movement with other artists such as Antonio Saura, Manolo Millares, Rafael Canogar, and Juana Francés. Pablo Serrano's work is part of the art informel movement and is characterized by abstract and figurative sculptures. He received several awards during his career, including the Princess of Asturias Award for the Arts in 1982 and the Gold Medal of Fine Arts in 1983. He was also a member of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando and the Royal Academy of Belgium.
