S.P. Jayakar was an Indian painter, one of the artists whose work was credited with introducing the Modernism into the Indian Art. He was born in Tamil Nadu, India in 1931 and died in 2005. He gained his diploma in Fine Arts from the Government College of Arts and Crafts, Madras in 1951. Since 1966 he was a member of the Cholamandal Artists’ Village. His works are on display in the New Delhi Art Museum, Madras Art Museum and in the Lalit Kala Academy in Delhi and Madras.
