Silke Grossmann is a filmmaker, actor, artist, writer and producer. She was born on January 22, 1948 in Lohmen, Germany. She lives and works in Berlin and Malta. Grossmann has produced a comprehensive filmic and artistic oeuvre and has also done performance art and acted in other directors’ films. She is also a professor of photography at the Hamburg University of Fine Arts in the department Graphic Art / Typography / Photography, where she examines photography in the context of language and materiality and its relationship to human perception.
