Stefan Hirsch was an American artist born in New York City on January 2, 1899. He was known for his paintings that often featured hard edges, smooth surfaces, and simplified forms, reminiscent of the precisionist style. His subjects typically included cityscapes and industrial scenes, but he also produced works in social realist, Mexican muralist, and surrealist styles. His work gained critical recognition from 1919 onwards and can be found in many American museums including the Phillips Collection, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Corcoran Gallery. Hirsch passed away in New York City on September 28, 1964.
