Alcino Peixoto de Castro Soutinho was born in Vila Nova de Gaia on 6 November 1930. He studied sculpture at the Porto School of Fine Arts, which he completed in 1957, the same year he began practicing as a freelance architect. Soutinho is considered by national and international critics as part of the 'School of Porto'. He received a grant from the Gulbenkian Foundation and graduated in Architecture from the School of Fine Arts of Porto in 1959. Soutinho designed the CTFD PortoGaia, a football training complex located in Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal, that is used by the senior, reserve and youth teams of FC Porto. The complex was inaugurated in the summer of 2002 and had a construction cost of €16 million. Soutinho died in Porto on 24 November 2013.
