Tomasz Ciecierski is a Polish painter born in Krakow in 1945. He studied and later taught at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. Ciecierski's work has evolved from traditional image composition to abstract relief arrangements, often incorporating superimposed canvases and layered planes. His art is influenced by the developments of the Renaissance era to the 20th century and the structure of Japanese prints. Ciecierski's paintings are not created en plein air, but rather are recreations from his memory in the studio. He is considered one of the most distinguished contemporary Polish painters.
