Walter Hatke is an American artist born in 1947 in New York City. He is known for his work in painting and sculpture. In 1976, he recreated the decor for Erik Satie’s symphonic drama Socrate, originally designed by mobile artist Alexander Calder in 1936. The recreated decor is considered one of the masterpieces of twentieth-century theatre design.
