In dieser Malerei ist der einzige Hinweis auf die menschliche Natur das große, weiße isolierte Haus auf einem Hügel. Die Erde spiegelt sich auf der leicht gewellten Wasseroberfläche wider, die eine unzählige goldene Glimmer hervorbringt. Leto gab völlig auf urbanen Szenen auf, die mit dem Sinn der Moderne, die seinen Erfolg mit Kritikern in Florenz und Paris gemacht hatte, und holte die Themen, die mit kleinen Städten verbunden sind, durch die Renovierung der sentimentalen und evocativen Bedeutungen im Einklang mit dem europäischen Naturalismus.
