Lehmann führte mehrere Porträts aus, die beide gemalt und gezeichnet wurden, seines ersten Cousins Faustine Léo. Dieses Porträt emuliert deutlich das Beispiel seines Meisters, Ingres, vor allem in seiner glatten, polierten Oberfläche und den knackigen Konturen der Figur. Doch seine intensiv gesättigte Palette und intime Stimmung setzt Lehmanns Arbeit von der von Ingres. Das Porträt trägt seinen ursprünglichen Rahmen.
