Dies ist eine von einigen Gemälden von Venedig, die Turner in der Hoffnung, Kommissionen zu generieren begonnen haben. Es blieb unvollendet. Es zeigt das untere Ende des Canal Grande, mit der Kuppel der Kirche Santa Maria della Salute schimmert am Nachmittag Licht. Von den Bildern, die Turner in seinen letzten Jahren gemalt, war es seine Bilder von Venedig, die am wenigsten kontrovers und am beliebtesten bei Sammlern waren.
