Die Komposition feiert das Ende des Winters durch die Vereinigung der Flora, römischen Göttin des Frühlings und Zephyr, Gott des Windes. Trotz einer Präponderanz von Sichtmalereien haben venezianische Künstler, die sich auf Figuren spezialisiert haben – u.a. Amigoni, Sebastiano Ricci und Giovanni Pellegrini – auch internationale Reputte erreicht und in ganz Europa Provisionen erhalten. Amigoni bemalte diese Arbeit in England, wo er zwischen 1729 und 1739 lebte.
