Die soziale elite ließ ihre porträts malen und war auch gern unkompliziert , schmucklose gemälde ihrer landhäuser und landgüter , oder szenen aus der high society . das elegante porträt einer jungen frau von william hogarth ist ein repräsentatives beispiel für die informelle und distanzierte porträtmalerei, die in england praktiziert wird .
