In der griechischen Mythologie war Atalanta die sportliche Jägerin, die versprach, den ersten Mann zu heiraten, der sie verlassen konnte. Diejenigen, die das Rennen verloren haben, verloren auch ihr Leben. Mit der Führung von Aphrodite, Hippomenes gewann das Rennen, indem drei goldene Äpfel in Atalantas Weg während ihres Wettbewerbs. Unfähig zu widerstehen, die Frucht aufzuheben, Atalanta verlor das Rennen. Hier zeigt Montford Atalanta nach dem Rennen und hält noch einen der goldenen Äpfel, die ihre Niederlage bewirkten.
