Das 1886 Inventar des Edison-Hauses listet dieses Gemälde auf, wie es im Zeichnungsraum angezeigt wird, wo es heute noch hängt. Gifford, ein Hudson River School-Künstler und Mitglied der Luministischen Bewegung, in erster Linie produziert Strand und moutain Szenen. Gifford benutzte eine spezielle Technik, um seine Arbeit zu beenden. Durch die mehrfache Lackierung im gekochten Öl suchte der Künstler, einen Schleier zwischen dem Betrachter und dem Kunstwerk zu schaffen, das die natürliche Atmosphäre darstellte.
