Βιογραφία:
Matevz Langus was a Slovenian painter. He studied at the Vienna art academy and worked as a fresco painter in summer, and in winter he produced oil paintings in his studio, mainly portraits, but also a lot of paintings for church clients. The majority of Langus' oeuvre belongs to the period of Biedermeier; of a wider cultural-historical significance seem to be his portraits of Carniolan burghers, mainly those of Ljubljana. He relied on Baroque tradition of illusionism, mass scenes, and emphasized emotions, so he was considered “the last Baroque painter” in Slovenia.
