Albert Einstein was a renowned German-born physicist who is widely regarded as one of the most influential scientists of the 20th century. He is best known for his theory of relativity and the famous equation E=mc². Born in Ulm, Kingdom of Württemberg, German Empire, on March 14, 1879, Einstein grew up in a middle-class Jewish family. He studied physics at the Swiss Federal Polytechnic University and later worked as a patent clerk in Bern, Switzerland. In 1905, he published four groundbreaking papers that introduced his theory of special relativity, which challenged the long-held notion of absolute time and space. Over the next decade, Einstein expanded his work to include general relativity, which described gravity as the curvature of spacetime caused by massive objects. His theories revolutionized our understanding of the universe and had a profound impact on the development of modern physics. Einstein was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1921 for his explanation of the photoelectric effect. He continued to work on various projects until his death on April 18, 1955, in Princeton, New Jersey.
