Biography:

Alejandro Diez Macho, also known as Jan Díez, was a Spanish scholar and priest. He was born in Villafría de la Peña, Spain in 1916 and died in Barcelona in 1984. Diez Macho studied theology at the Gregorian University of Rome and later earned his Ph.D. in Semitic Philology from the University of Barcelona. He taught Hebrew and Arabic languages and literature at the University of Barcelona until 1973 and then moved to the Universitas Complutensis Madrid, where he taught Hebrew language and literature until his death. Diez Macho was also a renowned expert on Aramaic and worked on several scholarly projects, including the Biblia Políglota Matritense. He discovered the Targum Neophyti I manuscript in 1956, which was considered lost since the sixteenth century.
