Biography:

The Aleut people, also known as the Unangan, are the Indigenous people of the Aleutian Islands, which are located between the North Pacific Ocean and the Bering Sea. They are known for their traditional craft of basket weaving, as well as carving of ivory and wood, beadwork, and embroidery. The Aleut people have a rich cultural heritage and have lived in the Aleutian Islands for thousands of years. They have a population of around 25,000 prior to European contact. The Aleut people have faced many challenges throughout history, including resettlement by the Russian-American Company in the 1820s and the impact of nuclear testing in the 1960s and 70s. However, they have continued to maintain their cultural traditions and language, which is classified as critically endangered and extinct.
